Our rainforest preservation efforts are centered on the belief that education and awareness are a start, but not enough. The only way to stop rainforest deforestation is to buy land and set it aside for permanent preservation. The Cuipo project pools revenue from individuals and corporate sponsors to purchase large parcels of land for transfer to One Meter at a Time, for permanent preservation.
At home, One Meter at a Time encourages people to take a stance against rainforest deforestation. Through education and awareness programs, we teach habits of a sustainable lifestyle, promote awareness of deforestation and its impact on the global environment, and educate students of all ages about the uniqueness of the rainforest biome and its species.
Abroad, One Meter at a Time will safeguard the rainforest lands preserved by Cuipo, LLC. We will design re-education programs to teach skills required for gainful employment in preservation. One Meter at a Time will then employ locals and partner with indigenous groups who will act as stewards of the preserved rainforest.
We know that it would be impossible to own every meter2 of rainforest and keep it safe from destruction, but we can certainly make a difference. Through a combination of land preservation, education, and awareness, we can work together to save our planet—one meter2 at a time. Learn more about how to save a meter2.
